FEATURES

There are two streams under visa subclass 132:

  • Significant business history stream:  for affluent owners or part owners of a business who want to have a major management role in a new or existing business in Queensland
  • Venture capital entrepreneur stream:  for people who have sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL).

CRITERIA

All migrants must be nominated by a state or territory government to be eligible for this visa.

To apply for this visa, you must meet Queensland’s nomination criteria as well as the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) eligibility criteria.

The criteria is different for each of the two visa streams – Significant business history and Venture capital entrepreneur.

132 Significant business history stream (Permanent)

If you are seeking nomination for this stream, please contact Business and Skilled Migration Queensland to discuss your business proposal prior to lodging an Expression for Interest on SkillSelect.

In addition to the DIBP criteria, applicants seeking Queensland state nomination must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must make an investment of at least AUD$2.5 million in the proposed business for applicants intending to establish a business in Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
  • The business must create at least five new employment positions.

OR

  • AUD$1.5 million in the proposed business for applicants intending to establish a business in other regions of Queensland.
  • The business must create at least three new employment positions.

Preference will be given to investments in businesses in the agribusiness, tourism infrastructure, resources, infrastructure and education and training sectors, particularly in regional Queensland.

Under this stream there are specific requirements for property development businesses. These applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have funds of at least AUD$5 million for transfer.
  • If you intend to invest in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, you need to invest a minimum of AUD$4 million into the proposed business that will create significant economic benefit for Queensland and create or increase employment of five full-time sustainable positions.
  • If you intend to invest in other regions of Queensland, you need to invest a minimum of AUD$2.5 million into the proposed business that will create significant economic benefit for Queensland and create or increase employment of three full-time sustainable positions.
  • Preference will be given to investments in commercial residential or industrial property development in regional Queensland.

132 Venture capital entrepreneur stream (Permanent)

In addition the DIBP criteria, applicants seeking Queensland state nomination must meet the following criteria:

  • Funds are to be used for the start up phase, product commercialization, business development or expansion of a high potential, high value business idea for operation in Queensland.

TO APPLY

  1. Review the visa conditions and make sure you meet the eligibility criteria on the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) website.
  2. Make sure you meet Queensland’s nomination criteria.
  3. Contact Business and Skilled Migration Queensland to discuss your business proposal prior to lodging an Expression for Interest on SkillSelect.
  4. Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) through DIBP’s SkillSelect online service. Priority will be given to applicants who select ‘Queensland’ as their nominating State in SkillSelect.
  5. If you meet Queensland’s eligibility criteria, Business and Skilled Migration Queensland will contact you with instructions on how to provide additional information to finalise your application.  A non-refundable application fee must be paid prior to finalising your application.
  6. If you are nominated by Business and Skilled Migration Queensland, you will receive an invitation from DIBP asking you to lodge an application within 60 days of nomination.

Timeframe for nomination

Two weeks once Business and Skilled Migration Queensland has received your application and supporting documents.
