This visa is the second stage application for permanent residency for holders of the Subclass 188- Significant Investor stream.

State nomination for this visa is managed by the Queensland Government through Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) in collaboration with the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs (HA).

If you applied for your provisional Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor stream prior to 1 July 2015, you are eligible to apply for a subclass 888 visa after holding your provisional visa for 3 years and 11 months. If you applied for your provisional visa after 1 July 2015, you are required to hold your provisional visa for at least 4 years prior to applying for a subclass 888 visa.

Application process

To be considered for Queensland nomination:

Step 1: Review the eligibility criteria, visa conditions and document checklist on the HA website and the BSMQ website. Ensure you meet both the HA criteria and BSMQ criteria, and have all your documentation ready before you apply.

Step 2: You must first register your interest here

Step 3: You will then be asked to lodge the requested documentation:

If additional information is required, a BSMQ officer will contact you by phone or e-mail.

Step 4: When you have uploaded your documents, you will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee to BSMQ, in order to finalise your application. BSMQ will review your application and may request further information.

Please note: you will be given 14 days to finalise your application from the date of invitation. If you are unable to provide the relevant information within this time frame, you must seek an extension from BSMQ. Applications not finalised within time frames will be closed and applicants will need to withdraw and lodge a new application.

Step 5: Once your completed BSMQ application is received and approved, you will receive a signed copy of the HA Form 1414 by email to lodge with your visa application. You will be given 90 days to lodge your application with the HA, however you must lodge your visa before your current visa expires.

Lodgement of visa subclass 888 application

  • If you applied for your provisional visa (subclass 188) in the Significant Investor stream prior to 1 July 2015, you are eligible to apply for a subclass 888 visa after holding your provisional visa for 3 years and 11 months.
  • If you applied for your provisional visa (subclass 188) after 1 July 2015, you are required to hold your provisional visa (subclass 188) for at least 4 years prior to applying for a subclass 888 visa.

Holding your complying investment for the life of your provisional visa (subclass 188)

In order to meet the Department of Home Affairs criteria to apply for the visa subclass 888 as a SIV holder, you must hold your complying investments continuously for the life of your provisional visa (subclass 188).

You can switch between complying investments provided that:

  • funds you withdraw from an investment are reinvested into other complying investments within 30 days
  • the sum withdrawn corresponds with the sum reinvested (irrespective of any gains and losses due to market exposures).

Funds reinvested into a complying investment within 30 days are taken to have been held continuously from the original investment date.

SIV holders with a Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) Bond – Designated Investment

If you lodged your provisional visa application (subclass 188) prior to 1 July 2015 and you have invested into QTC bonds, you must demonstrate to the Department of Home Affairs that the complying investment was held continuously for the life of your provisional visa (subclass 188). If your QTC bond matures more than 30 days prior to the expiry of your provisional visa (subclass 188), you will need to have reinvested into another complying investment to demonstrate to the Department of Home Affairs that you have held your complying investment continuously for the life of your provisional visa (subclass 188).

在您的临时签证(188) 有效期内持有合规投资

为满足内政部对申请888签证申请人的要求,您必须在临时签证(188)的有效期内连续持有合规投资。

你可以在合规投资之间转换,如果:

  • 退出的投资资金在30天内再投资于其他合规投资。
  • 退出的金额与再投资金额相符(不论市场风险导致的任何收益和损失)。

在30天内再投资于合规投资的资金将会视为从原投资日期起连续持有合规投资。

重大投资者签证(SIV)持有人与昆士兰财政部发行的(QTC)债券 – 指定投资

昆士兰财政部发行的债券(指定投资)通常为期4 年。如果您在2015年7月1日之前递交临时签证(188)并已投资QTC债券,必须向内政部阐明您在该签证有效期内连续持有此合规投资。如果您的QTC债券在临时签证(188)终止前到期超过30天以上,您将需要重新投资到另一个合规投资,以便向内政部证明您在临时签证(188)有效期内连续持有合规投资。
