BSMQ, PwC and Westpac jointly held an Australian Tax and Investment Seminar on the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and Australian Asset Allocation on 27 March 2018. There were over 60 attendees, including current migrants, migration agents and other stakeholders. This was an aftercare initiative designed for Queensland Significant Investor Visa (SIV) holders with a Chinese speaking background (including those from China, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan) and was conducted in Mandarin Chinese.
There were two main presenters:
- Kai Zhang, Tax Partner of PwC spoke on CRS and its impact on visa holders. He also discussed tax risks involved in investment of shares and real estate properties.
- Jimmy Siu, Private Wealth Services Director from BT Financial Group spoke on the market outlook.
There was lively discussion during the Q&A session and the feedback from attendees was that this seminar was very useful.
