Queensland opens doors to global talent
Queensland’s State Nominated Migration Program has now opened with 2,600 places available in 2025-26, more than double the allocation in the previous year. This includes:
- 1,850 places for the Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190)
- 750 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
The increased allocation and visa subclass split will help to address critical workforce shortages in key sectors such as construction, healthcare and manufacturing and support skills shortages across a range of industries in regional areas.
Candidates are encouraged to review Queensland’s nomination pathways and Queensland Skilled Occupation Lists to determine their visa subclass eligibility.
Candidates may then submit a Registration of Interest (ROIs) for the visa subclass they meet nomination requirements for.
Candidates who have already submitted ROIs for the subclass 491 visa and assess they meet subclass 190 visa nomination requirements, may submit a new ROI for the subclass 190 visa. Selection rounds will only consider the candidates’ most recently submitted ROI.
