Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888)
This visa is the second stage application for permanent residency for holders of the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188). It allows you to stay in Queensland on a permanent basis for the purpose of managing a business or investment.
For this visa, you have a choice of four streams:
- Business Innovation is for holders of a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) in the Business Innovation stream or the Business Innovation Extension stream, or holders of a subclass 444 (Special Category) visa, or certain holders of a subclass 457 (Business (Long Stay)) visa, to stay permanently in Australia.
- Investor is for investors to continue investment activities in Australia permanently.
- Significant Investor is for to investors continue investment activities in Australia permanently.
- Entrepreneur is for holders and, in some cases, people who have held a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) in the Entrepreneur stream, to stay permanently.
State nomination for this visa is managed by the Queensland Government, through Migration Queensland in collaboration with the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs.
Eligibility criteria
To be considered for Queensland nomination, you must:
- hold a current Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) or a Special Category visa (subclass 444),
- have fulfilled the requirements of your provisional visa,
- demonstrate that you meet the Department of Home Affairs Eligibility Criteria for the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888), and
- register your application directly with Migration Queensland.
You must also meet the Migration Queensland criteria below, which is different for each visa stream.
