Right to information
Legislation replacing the Freedom of Information Act 1992 came into effect on 1 July 2009:
The Queensland Ombudsman may be able to assist you and main roles are:
- give people a timely, effective and independent way to have administrative actions of agencies investigated
- to improve the quality of decision-making and administrative practice in government agencies
- give oversight of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010.
The Department of Home Affairs also offers a Freedom of Information (FOI) Service. Freedom of information laws allow access by the general public to data held by national governments.
