Applying for Queensland State nomination

To apply for Queensland nomination for Skilled visas (subclass 190 or 491) or Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visas (subclass 188), please take the following steps:

Step 1: Review Immigration Eligibility Criteria on the Department of Home Affairs website and Queensland State Nomination Criteria on Migration Queensland website.

Step 2: Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Home Affairs SkillSelect website. Choose Queensland as your preferred nominating state.

Step 3: If your EOI is accepted, you will receive an invitation from Migration Queensland to lodge your nomination application online through Migration Queensland document portal.

Step 4: Pay a non-refundable application fee to Migration Queensland in order to process your application. Visit Application fees for detailed information.

Step 5: Once you are nominated by the State of Queensland, you will receive an invitation from Home Affairs to lodge a visa application within 60 days of the nomination. 188 visa applicants are not required to make an investment until directed to do so by your case officer at Home Affairs.

Please note: these steps are for provisional business and skilled visas. For further information on how to apply for a 188 extension, 888 or 405 renewal visa, please refer to Apply online.
