MQ Business Migrants Attend 'Taste of Queensland' 2022
Migration Queensland's (MQ) business migrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Europe were invited to attend the Taste of Queensland showcase event, a three-day food and beverage expo from 2 - 4 November 2022 organised by Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast.
MQ's migrants had the opportunity to see and sample a diverse range of Queensland food and beverage products. The event helped them establish contacts with Queensland manufacturers and source the right products for their export trading businesses in Queensland. Buiness migrants were especially interested in Queensland alcoholic beverages, nuts, edible oil, candy, honey and mineral water. One buyer from China has already placed an order of frozen beef valued at approximately A$100,000.
MQ migrants from China, Mr and Mrs Zhang, with their company 'Crest Chocolates', were exhibitors at the Brisbane session to showcase a variety of their products.
The couple purchased the Crest Chocolate factory in Brisbane three years ago and have transformed the business into an export-oriented confectionery manufacturer. In the evening of 2 November 2022, MQ business migrants were also invited to attend the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) – Queensland cocktail networking event at KPMG headquarters in Brisbane. They were warmly welcomed by MQ Manager, Greg McKean and ACBC Executive Member and KPMG Director, Bert Wu.
The Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) Commissioner for China and TIQ staff from Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hong Kong also attended the event.
